How many women out there hate receiving flowers as a gift?

Okay here is a weird one. My wife, she hates receiving flowers. She says it's because they are dying. She does like receiving potted plants. When I learned ( the hard way) that she doesn't like receiving flowers, but is okay with potted plants, I chose instead to get her an orchid as a potted plant. She loved it. It's 12 years old and still kicking.

Ah man, that's tough when your girl doesn't like getting flowers as a gift. I can see where she's coming from though - the whole idea of getting something that's just gonna die kind of sucks. At least with a potted plant, it can live on and she can enjoy it for a lot longer.

I've heard a lot of girls say they feel the same way about flowers. It's like, "Why would I want something that's just gonna wilt and croak in a week?" I can respect that. Flowers are nice and all, but they don't really have the same lasting impact as something more permanent.

That's a great idea to get her an orchid instead! Those things are so cool, and the fact that yours is still going strong after 12 years is really impressive. I bet she really appreciates the thought and effort you put into finding her something she'll actually enjoy.

It just goes to show you gotta pay attention to your girl's preferences, you know? Not every chick is gonna be all about the traditional flower bouquet. Gotta get creative and find the right gift that matches her style. Sounds like you totally nailed it with the orchid - nice work, dude!

I am neutral on it. I think it's just such a nice gesture for a man (typically) to buy a woman flowers. Like he went out of his way to get me those. I am not going to dump on that, however once you've been told by someone that they hate something, believe them. You can't have your feelings hurt if you ignore them after the fact that they told you they hate them.

I love flowers, but have allergies, so I can only appreciate them from afar. Ironically, I'd never been gifted flowers till this year, which was REALLY unexpected and appreciated (even though I was sneezing and tearing up all the way home... and ultimately shared the amazing bouquet with an elderly neighbor).

I love love love large, beautifully arranged bouquet of flowers. My hubby gets me flowers from time to time. He I has also planted some in the garden.

I am very bad with plants, I killed them all… so I gave up and he gave up.

its a waste of money, and the potted plant thing is smart. much prettier and last so much longer
