yes but it goes further. if two people are approaching a door at the same time YOU should open or hold the door for that person, regardless if they are a girl, boy, friend, family, stranger.
it's called chivalry. it's harmless and demonstrates simple acts of kindness
Yes it's just what gentlemen do,,,
It’s definitely charming, gentleman, and I love it, esp if it’s my man. But I also do open the door generally for people haha. I would joke with the men “let me be the gentlewoman” but they’re usually super nice and still stay to hold the door for me to go first😭
Not a hardliner for this. However, the gesture do gives a good favourable impression, be it man or woman. If I am the one walking ahead, I keep it open or hold it just enough for anyone to avoid unexpected nose slams.

I disagree. A guy should always hold the door for others, male or female. It's common courtesy. Unless the guy is an entitled asshole or the woman is a "Karen", in which case I have no problem letting the door slam shut behind me.
Perhaps maybe holding the door open for such people might help them change their behaviour?, it would still be funny to watch the door slam them,,,
Not “always.”
I see it as a gesture, not a rule.
Opening the door is thoughtful but respect shows up in more ways than that.
It’s less about tradition, more about mutual consideration.
If you're the first person to arrive at the door, you should open it for anyone. It is basic good manners.
Not just ‘Yes’, but ‘Hell, yes’. I open doors for women I don’t even know. If they cop a feminist attitude, so be it.
I'll hold the door open for a man if he is carrying something in his arms, or hold it open for him if he is right behind me.
I have held the door for both guys and gals and have both hold the door for me. Other times nobody held the door. It depended on the circumstances.
Opening the door seems overkill to me lol, if you mean holding the door open then yes, for everyone behind us, that's just courtesy.
I don't go out of my way to hold a door open for a woman but if she's close by, I'll hold it open for her or anyone.
not unless she's first to it. i stopped caring about being a gentlemen a long time ago. females just aren't that nice and certainly not ladies.
What if you were at a store being robbed at gunpoint? would you open the door for her or walk in yourself
I hold the door for anybody behind me or if they are going out or coming in. It’s good manners and the way I was raised.
For their girl/Woman sure. Men don't need to open doors for every single women.
If she is fat it is kind of a pain in the A.
I was raised to be a gentlemen, so yes. I hold doors for ladies and the elderly.
No. If anything, I think women should open doors for guys.
I generally open the door for anyone entering the door alongside me... Depending on the context, i let them in first as well.
She has hands, right?
No but it is very sweet
Totally should , it costs nothing to be a gent!
I think it's generally polite to
Quite often to be gentlemanly.
The gender doesn’t matter, it’s common courtesy

@rapfan107 there's no shame in sometimes putting yourself first 🙂😏🙂↔️ and letting others support themselves to lift themselves up 🙂
