Ladies, how do you feel about public engagements, especially if it wasn't discussed? Guys, is this something you would do?

I personally think it's nothing more than an attempt at cheap applause and a chance at going viral.

I want it to be a private moment.

I'm all for it but would wanna know before hand.

Beyond horrible. It's supposed to be a sweet, private, romantic moment and it's anything but in front of an audience as a publicity stunt, where you're obligated to say yes to spare him the humiliation despite the fact that I'd want to say no just because of how bad a job he did asking this way and how little he obviously knows me to think it's a good idea

That's exactly how I feel. When I see these public engagements, I can't help but wonder if they're both in on it or if the woman is possibly blindsided, because it was never discussed?

I am definitely an introvert but if my SO hinted at a public engagement I would do it just to please her. Thankfully she's not like that lol. I took her out for the weekend to a 5 star hotel and 5 star restaraunt on the beach which is her absolute favorite place to be, then afterward when it was dark we walked the shoreline looking for sand crabs. If you've ever done that you'd know they sort of shine when they're trying to run from you. I set the ring down as I shouted "look at this giant one?" Then she bent down to see and when she realized what it was she picked it up, and I was already behind her on my knee. Probably pretty cheesy but she cried so I think I did it right lol.

@CriminallyInsane I agree. A friend of mine planned a date night when he proposed to his wife. It was basically the same restaurant, the same walk down the lake front, while they ate an ice cream cone, as their very first date. When she realized it, he proposed. Some might say it was cheesy but I think it's actually clever and thoughtful.

I proposed to my wife at the restaurant where we had our first date, at the very same table, I did it at around 6:30 pm on a Friday night and the restaurant was packed. I got down on one knee and proposed like they did in the movies from the 1930's. And she said yes!

I'm an introvert, I prefer it to be a private moment. I'd be pretty annoyed if he'd do it in public. "You're lucky you're awesome, because I'm gonna say yes but still."

If it 's in public and it's too soon, then you have that random people cheering him on, social pressure. If you then say no, it will be humiliating for him in public and the random people will see YOU as the villain.

My engagement was very well thought out and very private. That's what I always preferred. I was afraid he was gonna involve his family but luckily he didn't.

A cousin of mine proposed to his wife on Christmas Eve, in front of his family, a long with aunt's, uncles and cousins. I could tell she felt extremely awkward. Her future mother in law was wondering why she wasn't crying 🙄
