Why do girls like to rest their heads on their boyfriend's chest?

my girlfriend likes resting her head on my chest. why is that? she says she listens to the sound of my beating heart. it freaks me out! why do girls like to rest their heads on their boyfriend's chest?

Actually, it's a nesting instinct girls have. It makes us feel safe, protected. (Guys usually have broad shoulders, so it feels nice to rest there in the crook -- bonus if you've got a strong arm to wrap around our shoulders, lol.

I read somewhere that it also usually makes a guy feel protective. (Something to do with the cluster of nerves in that area.) I can't remember the title, but there was a study ... I'm sure it's easy to "Google Scholar."

BOTTOM LINE: If it freaks you out, just find a nice way to tell her you're not into that.

I don't know what it is about it...it's just comforting...like that's the source of his life and it just feels good to hear it. I like the beat of it.

My girl friend lays her head down onto my chest all the time, I'm no complainer I love, its comfortable, intimate and it makes me feel protective of her, as for the heart beat thing it doesn't really bother me, we fall asleep with me holding her every night we are with each other, she prefers playing with my chest and drools on me occasionally but for what ever the reason, I like it.

Well, for one, it makes us feel very protected and loved. It's a natural instinct for us to do that. As to the whole heartbeat thing, it's very comforting to know that you're alive and well and with us. But, that's not the main thing. The main thing is feeling protected and loved.
