Humility is simply not adhering to one's own personal importance.
There are poor people who aren't humble because they emphasize their own personal importance through other aspects of themselves.
It's not bad to have personal importance - it's just how you show it that deciphers humility or arrogance.
Material possessions can sometims be used for arrogance I suppose - but it's the person wearing them or having them that determins that.
I can throw on a gucchi outfit and million dollar diamond bracelet - then turn around and donate that bracelet to a needed charity or warm some homeless girl with that jacket.
How much you adhere to your personal value to a degree is what harbors humility or arrogance.
The only thing that gives clothes and crap value is you.
Not the item itself so.

Yes, it is normal. Humble persons also needs money to live, wants dresses and clothes to make themselves happy. Humble is an attitude of living, to be good manners to other persons, a good way to get well on others. It doesn't mean you can avoid the money and other living requests...
I think so. I'm humble yet materialistic. I think the only reason I'm not more materialistic is because I don't have more money. but I love name brand clothes, nice clothes and labels. but I'm down to earth in every other way
Interesting question. I think that our definitions of humble differ. To me, I could be humble but still be fiercely competitive, whether in sports, business, school, whatever it may be. The only difference between me and someone who brags or showboats about it is the fact that I remain aware of my own position in relation to others. I recognize my faults and points to improve on. I don't rub it in people's faces or openly celebrate some kind of victory or success. I merely keep it professional and...well, humble.
So yes, you can be "materialistic" and still be humble. I think it's mainly the connotation of materialistic that plays into it's negative perception.
