Leg-crossing is a natural sign of un-interest, for lack of better word, and probably means she is either taken, or just doesn't want to be bothered. Now, of course that doesn't mean it is 100% true, but it is just more common.
Generally, these people hit it on with the glances, hair playing, smiling, etc. If you sit next to a girl that you want to talk to, just say hey what's up. If she is into you (based off of looks obviously) she will talk to you, if not she will probably just give you some crap response about how she wants to pay attention to the teacher or something. Either way, you get your answer without playing the entire game.

good Q.
when I sit next to girls, they just face me and open their legs.
i think they're aware I'm a slutty ninja...
Usually if I'm sitting down and I see a cute guy, I'll awkwardly start blushing (but you can't really tell, because well..I'm black :p) if that wasn't so obvious. Anywho, I'll probably start touching my hair a lot and I tend to cross my legs. Or I'll pretend I'm not looking at him as if he hasn't gotten my attention.
No I don't , I really don't care how good a guy looks that really doesn't impress me . I've to really get to know the guy and pay attention to his personality , If we click than I start paying attention to the guy and his looks . When I start getting to know him more, My behavior will start changing.
I would turn around...smile at him and ask him what's up. I immediately face him lol.

I think that often depends on if I'm single or not. If I'm not, I won't react. If I am, usually I tend to play with my hair a little more, and look at the guy a bit more.
yeah there's sometimes a change in my body language for some weird reason I always fix myself up and cross my legs I don't know why its just what I do...lame I know
Yeah sometimes they discretely prop their hair, adjust clothing, change posture.
