Why do I have no confidence with girls I like?

I am 18 years old. I'm so shy around girls I like I act so nervous. I'm afraid of talking to the girls I like because I'm afraid of screwing up or looking bad? I work out 6 days a week so the confidence is there and Around my friends and others I am very outgoing and couldn't care less what they think but I freeze up when talking to an attractive girl. My friends tell me they can't stop talking about me calling me "so hot" and whatever whenever I'm at the gym and that I should just got for it because its being handed to me but I just cant. I freeze up. I over think. A mutual friend told me they don't understand how I can be so shy and look like this. That bothers me because even I don't know why I'm that shy. How can I get over this?

Here's some good advice... "keep it simple stupid"

You will get over your fear if you face it head on, but realize you don't have to do it all at once. Start small. Say "hi (her name here)" and smile. Be genuine and listen to her answer. Don't wait for it to get awkward just keep moving on. Trust me, girls get excited when a cute guy says "Hi" especially if he smiles.

After that, if she likes you she will be the one constantly thinking about you. Then next time you run into her... just do it again. Become her friend first. Don't worry about all the other sh*t that comes with a relationship. If it's meant to be that will come. Stay in control... when the balls in your court, be nice and be genuine. Then the ball will be in her court.

After a few interactions you will be able to tell if she is interested or not. If she is interested, then ask her to hangout some time. If she isn't interested, move on to the next girl.

It takes small steady steps to build new habits. Every once in awhile we might fall and that's OK. That is how we learn. We just pick ourselves back up and try again. You will be amazed at how a little patience will attract women. When she texts you... be patient. Don't ever text more then twice in a row. Be patient and in the mean time focus on making yourself a better more attractive person.

It's quite understandable that you freeze. However, if you don't overcome this, you might not get a girl forever.

Try talking to a councilor, experienced friend or family about it. I honestly can't stand shy guys. I am really blunt and I can't deal with guys that are painfully awkward and shy.
