New Feature: Badges on GAG!

Hey GAGers!

We are excited to announce a new feature on GAG: we have added badges to the site!

Badges are our way of recognizing your accomplishments and milestones on GAG! You can earn them by completing specific actions or tasks around the site. When you earn a new badge, you will see a popup message letting you know which badge you earned. If you are away from the site at the time a badge requirement is completed, don't worry, you will see this popup the next time you log in.

From your profile page, you should see a new tab titled "Badges." From this page, you can see all of the available badges with a short description of how to earn them. Badges you have already earned will appear in color while badges that are waiting to be earned will be faded grey.

Some badges can be earned multiple times too! In that case, you will see an orange circle in the top right corner displaying the number of times you have reached that achievement.

As of right now, there are 7 badges you have the potential to earn and this is only the beginning! We do have plans to add even more fun badges in the future so stay tuned for that. Be active on GAG and see how many you can earn! 😊

badges are ridiculous . serve no purpose .
except wow i am popular with the majority of the narrow minded .
but wait . are they redeemable on amazon . or for something else?

achievements i guess are purely for bragging rights though .
which i suppose is necessary for many gaggers to aspire to .
i mean if i get tons and tons of badges will they wash all of my insecurities away?

ok back to primary school we go. I still don't get how so many people
get over 25% hmo's when some of them have been only around for a few months .
now that's an achievement . getting those insanely high hmo %'s .

i mean monthly recognition for MyTakes and Questions are fine .
badges are childish patronizing and irrelevant .
that's ok if no one agrees with me . i 100% agree with me .

Great, now we have badges but the profile description is still ugly unformatted and the navigation bar is still missing on the profile page (which both were perfectly fine before you last "update").

I've seen such an influx of so called opinions in response to takes and questions that simply read, "I'm here for the points," or "interesting" or "cool" because they are solely there to gather up points, and now I fear this will only encourage that type of "opinion" sharing rather than actual feedback, opinions, or comments.

The badges are too big. What are you going to want to add to our pages next whether we want you to or not? The helpful one seems too easy to get. If you work 40 hrs/wk and sleep 4hrs a night then that leaves 100 hours left in the week. That means you would have to average 1 opinion an hour to get the social butterfly badge. I do not care if I get any badges because I do not need the badges to feel better about myself. DO NOT add any badges to my page.

If someone is bothering you, you can block the member to prevent any further contact. We don't see an email from you or any harassing messages but you can report members directly from their profile if you believe someone is violating our guidelines so we can investigate the user. :)

Most proud of being recognized as Helpful, would be nice to have them as small emblems next to our names on the opinions.
