Why I will not reply to a Question or myTake by an Anon

First, I have nothing against anyone Posting as an Anon (Anonymous) Poster. We all have our own proclivities.

I have never ever Posted or commented on a Post as an Anon even though I have been accused of it many times. I am not ashamed of my Posts or comments, quite the contrary.

I wish that was the only thing I have ever been accused of on here. There are some very mean and heartless members on this site who lie and make stuff up, but that is another Post for a different time.

I have posted about this subject before and have heard all the reasons why some members prefer to Post as Anons and that is OK. You are welcome to list your reasons again in your comments for the benefit of other members. I will never attack you for your opinions as others do. This is a safe space for all respectful opinions.

I just want to explain why I, and maybe some other Members, are not thrilled to reply on an Anonymous Members Post.

1) I do not trust someone that does not want to use their designated User Name. Although there are reasonable purposes for it, there are also nefarious ones.

2) I like to go to a Members Profile and learn more about them and see what other types of Posts the Member that I want to reply to is putting up. That helps me to determine a little bit about their personality and helps me see more of where they are coming from in order to provide the best comment to their Post.

3) Many Anons are Trollers. Some members like interacting with Trollers. They find it entertaining. I am not one of them.

4) If you have had a negative interaction with a member in the past, you do not know if that Anon is also that same member. Yes, a Member can be blocked, but the negative interaction isn't always deserving of that extreme of a response. But it is still good to have a 'heads up' if you are going to be interacting with them again on a Post.

5) If an Anon attacks your comment to their Post, you have no way of knowing who that member is to prepare you for future interactions and attacks.

Yes, I know there are valid purposes to Post as an Anon

...I also know there are valid reasons to not interact with them as well.

PS - As an added irony to my Post, I have left open the 'Anonymous Opinion' Option so all you 'Anons' - have at it! ...lol

I post questions anonymously 1. Because I'm curious and sometimes curiosity seem stupid to someone else
2. Depending on the day the app isn't really active and I don't get many replies as I want to make my own opinion, so I end up spamming the questions.
Some people hate that, but isn't that what the app for? To find amswer from different mindsets. I don't think it's very accurate with only 2 or 4 people answering it. I just don't want the people in my comments saying "you already asked that question, you're so annoying..."

The only time I consider using Anon myself is when the question is highly political


I like using this site to discuss topics that are social or philosophical or light hearted things


But many questions are hyper political and sometimes I do have an opinion


But when it comes to politics you can’t please everyone


No matter what I say someone on one side of the spectrum will take offense to it and if many people do they could turn to harassing me under other posts
(It’s happened before)


So when I know I’m about to give a political answer I tend to go anon to avoid having to deal with a headache because of it later


(Tbf it rarely happens and most questions I answer with my account visible. I have nothing personal to hide)

I don't really mind if someone is anon to ask a personal or sensitive question, but I don't care for those who hide behind an Anon tag to harass people - me or anyone else.

I have personally never posted anon in 14.5 years here. I have no problem standing behind what I post here.

Very true actually, and material to meditate upon. In any case I never post anything anonymously, because I don't see the point for that. A side effect nevertheless is me using a little caution before answering some sensitive questions ;0)

I don't usually have problems with anons, most of the time they can be genuine.

It's really obvious when they just want to spam or troll, and when that's the case I just don't engage.

I just think it's idiotic for somebody to post or answer a question anonymously like "do you own a dog?"

I agree with you. In real life we can't be Anon at all. You interact face to face. I have always said, that just being on here using a screen name should be Anon enough for the internet.
