Few things I do not like in being a male

Before you point at me and call me names, I have to say: I'm actually glad, that I am a male and I wouldn't wish to be the opposite gender. That being said, both genders have their ups and downs. I have however some things, in which I do not find myself happy with being a male.

1. We are expected to be THE source of money aka moneymakers

I don't say women don't have to but society gladly puts more pressure on us (at least I have experienced so). Today I see most of us want to make money, nothing wrong with that. And we men are expected to be especially rich (because we may be the main providers, right?).

2. We are expected to (always) make the first move

This one speaks for itself. I have no idea who had a bird in it's mind to set up the societies law, that the man is supposed to make the first move and not the other way around. It may be frowned upon if girls are going after their man, seeking love, which I view is only right if they pursue what the are literally after. This is just ridiculous.

3. If we want sex, we HAVE to WORK for it

Maybe girls want just as much sex as we do. If so, they can choose with who they participate.

We men generally have it a lot harder than that, as we work on to seduce/play/gain you. This can go as far as constantly dating, chasing, buying expensive gifts and many other ways to open a girl up for it.

If everything else fails, we still can masturbate, however, not everyone's satisfied with that while some can live with that. I'm not here to tell about my part.

3.1. If we are a virgin, then that's bad because "we couldn't manage to lose it". The older the worse.

At least that's, what the common boy would say.

I think any decent human does not care about virginity.

If a girl is a virgin, then that's good because she is keeping herself for somebody worthy.

So how can we have good boys and good girls, if one "should" not be one and the other "should" be? That's incompatible.

This seriously has to stop!

4. We are expected to be a real "man"

To put this one in clarity, we are expected to act like a "man": Real men don't cry, real men don't feel pain, real men are super strong, tall, big, courageous, sporty. Only real men drink 2 liters of beer and stay up to it, gets laid after every while and do not have the right to complain/critisize if there is something they do not really like. Only real men---

Doing anything outside of this and society views us as females already, let alone they cannot tell the difference between sexes. So, one of that is already not matching, might aswell go full female dressed up if that's what a man wants. There's no difference anymore.

4.1. We should be adult men, not girls

Here I continue with the previous point. What if one of us guys likes any of:

• Wearing something pink


• Not doing sports/not building up muscles but only to relax often


• Watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, owning products relative to My Little Pony.


• Being his own property


• Acting however he pleases but still polite to the surroundings


• No alcohol, especially not the popular beer


• The opposite of wild behavior


• Just living his life... the way he wants to


• Not being interested in having a relationship/girlfriend (FYI: Some people seriously believe if someone is not interested in this, they immediately conclude, that this person is gay!) *GASP* I know right?


• Smelling good, usage of body caring stuff

Not exactly, what society expects from a real man, no?

This is how society expects each and every one of us to be

Some may like it, some however are different. And I think there's nothing wrong with both types.

4.2. "But you are a man, not a woman."

And?

"You should(n't) be..."

And?

5. We are expected to get married and have children

This is it, what's been getting me much. Almost whereever I go on the outside world, people (especially girls?) expect me to marry. But what makes them so sure, that I will get married? Yes I am young and I use my time only too well. One thing, that I find a little scary is, how everyone is getting married. I don't meet any person unmarried anymore.

Marriage is a choice we all will meet to consider. Coming to think about it, who pays the not-so-little expenses? That's why I don't like it.

But that's pretty much my personal choice and you have your own.

6. We are expendable

To die is not pretty. Not for us and not for anyone.

In pretty much any catastrophe, we men have been in the past the majority of expendable sacrifices. The wars our gender fought, the low priority on situations like the sinking titatic etc...

Who are we, that we are so worthless to this world and it's people?

8) Men tend to get better looking with age, and for
us it's usually the opposite.

9) It hurts to run when you have big boobs.

10) Lug nuts are really hard to remove--our muscle
mass is not the same as yours.

Maybe it's just me, I learned to be open minded yet secured about my own heterosexuality. It means that I don't really have to care so much of what people think of me or how "manly" I am or may be. The society has a lot of standard when talking about evaluating our "masculinity" but I'm not agreeing with a lot of that. I agree with just about all of it. Not so much the part about children. but I don't disagree with your stance at all. It is your decision if you want kids. If you don't that is acceptable. The whole concept of masculinity is crashing down on itself the same way femininity is. Socially, we're in uncharted waters. As the ideals of previous generations clash with the new generations.

I think traditional gender roles can only be understood if we examine the context from which they originate and how they evolve. That way, we can fully appreciate the masculine and the feminine without being squeezed or pigeonholed into tight stereotypical categories.

i agree there. Because it takes two to tango, same with gender rolles. The only way for a gender rolle to take route in the first place, is if it's beneficial in the long run.
This is for example why men hunted, and women had the work in the tribe or gathering. It's like so because men are physically stronger, and our eyes are better at tracking movement (to mention some reasons). Women on the other hand are better at distinguishing colors (helps picking ripe berries, seeing if the food is spoiled etc), and generally have better fine motor skills (helps making weaved baskets, clothes, you know the drill). It's a result of who we are, and how we divided tasks to be more effective. And more effective = better living.

If what you say is meant towards you judging yourself by your looks, you could only change the way you look until you are satisfied. Plastic surgery however isn't cheap.
