I actually feel like it IS okay for a guy to look at a girl's body as a sexual object, as long as they don't look at the girl herself as a sexual object. Let me explain what I mean...

Girls are not sexual objects. However, their bodies can be. Yes, a guy should appreciate a girl's body. But to the guy, the only relationship he has with the body is sexual. Sure, the relationship between the guy and the girl herself is romantic, but the contact the man has with the body is mainly sexual.

It is the girl living INSIDE of the body who shouldn't be objectified. Technically, all of our bodies are simply the objects in which we live.

This is just my opinion. Feel free to disagree (or agree) in the comments.

Great take. I believe it is fine as long as they are respectful of her boundaries. Meaning, no touching if she does not want to be touched and listening to her when she is talking to you and not just staring at her body. The human body is beautiful and should be appreciated. This is VERY self-contradictory. This makes very little, if any sense at all. We can use a girl's body as a sex object, but not the girl herself? You can't use one and not the other.

I have grown increasingly weary of and frustrated with this notion that men are solely interested in the body and sex. That men aren't men, but instead just the physiologically-distinct creatures that women have sex with. That men aren't capable of rational thought, self-control, respecting women unless there's "something in it for them", or the pursuit of authentic feminine beauty that is represented by her body.

Women want men to respect them, but then they say stuff like this or "I sent this guy a nude, but he hasn't fallen in love with me yet. What's wrong with HIM?" I've seen it here and I've seen it in the culture at large at well. Jennifer Lawrence's explanation of that massive leak of celebrity nudes a year or two ago, anyone? The pitiful defense that the Marriott offered for the aftermath of the Erin Andrews leak, anyone?

I don't know if I should be more angered or saddened that this is what it's coming to. Or the fact that not only are women being duped by this, but men as well.

The only way a man can truly appreciate a woman's body is to appreciate the woman herself, her whole being; body, heart, mind, and soul. If he uses the body, he uses everything.

It's simply an opinion. Opinions, by definition, cannot be wrong. I do not believe that what I said is self-contradictory. A woman live inside of her body. Her brain and her thought process is not what guys are having sex with. Sure, a guy may be attracted to a woman for her intelligence. However, her body itself is a sexual objects. I did mean what I said earlier, though. I am extremely frustrated with this idea floating around that men are only after sex or that sex is all that we are capable of desiring. I am not making this up, I have seen at least two posts on GAG within the last year or so that have said things like "this guy didn't like the nude I sent him. What's his problem?" I have had enough.

Girls and guys each complain about the opposite sex not respecting them, but they don't realize just how much they encourage it. I am tired of it.

Well yes and no, it depends on what you mean when you say sexual objects, both genders see the gender they fancy as sexual - not all, but those who they feel sexsually attracted too.

The dictionary say sex object is "a person regarded by another only in terms of their sexual attractiveness or availability.".

The key here is only, I do not believe many men or women, only regards the opposite sex based on sexual attractiveness, and those who do is superficial idiots.

So by the dictionary definition I'll say no, not even the body should 'only' be seen as a sex object.
