Stressed out? Grumpy? Moody? If you're a guy and these words describe your mental state, you may be suffering something called "irritable male syndrome" What is irritable male syndrome you ask, well I'll tell you.

Irritable male syndrome (IMS) can be defined as a state of hypersensitivity, frustration, anxiety, and anger that occurs in males and is associated with chemical changes, hormonal fluctuations, stress, and loss of male identity or sense of self. It often is called Male PMS, Moon Cycle, or Manopause in society.

Do guys go through PMS as well?
Well, the simple answer is, of course, not. However, IMS have symptoms that can mimic the symptoms of PMS and make them act all moody, whinny, angered and over emotional in general. So girls, if you ever wondered why some guys are so mean, and so bitter at us during certain times of the month, it maybe due to IMS aka male PMS.

Do all guys get IMS to a degree in their life?
Yes, it does effect all men, it's just to what extent. Irrational Male Syndrome which has hormonal, physical, psychological, interpersonal, social, sexual, and spiritual aspects. This change occurs in all men, and may occur as early as age 20 to 30 and more dramatically after the age of 50.

Men who start out life with low levels of testosterone are also at a greater risk of suffering from IMS symptoms during their life.
