Guy tells a girl she's endearing?

Guy I used to flirt with but wouldn't date him, has recently got back in touch... i have told him i'm not ready to date anyone yet as i'm currently heaetbroke and missing a recent guy i liked who cut contact... but he says he likes talking to me, that i'm still pretty and keeps saying that i'm endearing? Why? What does a guy mean when he says a girl's endearing?

He's basically saying his feelings for you are becoming stronger. to be endeared to do something is to be encouraged or inspired to do it. He is basically trying to say you are intoxicating and spending time with you is inspiring 'deeper connections.'

That is an odd compliment in my opinion! Though while it might be a little unusual it is not necessarily a bad thing. It is likely just his unique way of saying that you are "cute" but with a little more depth.

With regards to your update... It is more on the friendship side of compliments I'd say. Cute, endearing, adorable, sweet etc. are all words we associate with friends more often than not.

After three years, a history of flirtation and he's stuck with you through a relationship/heartbreak? I'd say there are some underlying feelings there. I am sure you could transition from being "just friends" if you wanted to but I think he is content with friendship, even if deep down he would be open to something more.

No he's not stuck with me for three years... we haven't been in contact for almost three years then he randomly messages me. Been chatting to me a lot and called late for two hours.. only just. told him about the recent situation with the guy I liked.

It is hard to tell what he wants. It could be unrequited love or he could just miss an old friend he had fun flirting with back and forth. The fact he popped up out of the blue means he was thinking about you, as a friend or not, that counts for something.

Don't jump to conclusions and for now treat it as a friendship. I am sure he will make his intent known or that it will become obvious enough over the next few weeks of chit chatting.

Ok so he sent a long message last night saying he's backed off a bit (he had been sending multiple messages to one lol) because it's dangerous, that a few things I've told him about this other guy have made him a bit jealous. That he's wondering why it's bothering him if he doesn't still like me. That he wants to keep ttalking to me but he just has to keep an eye on it? Eh? I've told him can we just chat as friends.
