How can I calm my boyfriend down when he's mad?

He has anger issues. He gets anger fairly quickly and it takes him a while to calm down. He never takes it out on me, which is a big relief. It seems that when he is mad, I just sit there scared of his next move. How can I help him? I find scratching his back helps but what can I do when we are out in public or in the car and I can't do that?

Well, mostly soothing touch helps. I used to have this sort of issue and getting massages or taking showers helped me. Also, something that looks less like bedroom behavior, if you're in public, is to stroke his forearms very softly, almost so lightly that it tickles. The feeling may help distract him from his anger.

Hold his hands and look deep in his eyes and say i love u.. Im with u.. .. Also long hugs can help... I would calm instantly if my girlfriend hugged me
