The guy I'm dating wished me happy early birthday in person, but didn't wish me a happy birthday on the day of, and communication has been limited?

So I went to visit family for my birthday which meant I'd be spending my birthday away from the guy I'm dating. We aren't exclusive but we both agreed about being open to a serious relationship with each other. But we are just giving ourselves plenty of time to get to know each other. Since I'm visiting family for about a week, he and I have not really texted and I'm assuming it's because he wants to give me space while I'm at home since I don't go home a lot. But I kinda thought he'd wish me a happy birthday. He wished me a happy early birthday and talked about celebrating when I get back, right before I left to visit family. Would this be a reason to why he didn't wish me a happy birthday on the day of, because in his head he did it already? He isn't one to be non-celebratory, he texted me congratulating me on finishing college and how proud he is of me. So I would've thought a happy birthday was something he'd do. The only thing we've been doing is sending each other snap chats here or there. He Snapchat messaged me yesterday (which was my bday) in response to my snap story. I responded to him but didn't proceed with the conversation any further. That is if he even was trying to initiate a conversation in the first place. What is he trying to do by just messaging me on Snapchat? Was that a signal for me to try to talk to him? I don't like to text and seem too fixated on him because I like to keep the attraction/mystery going. Is him also not wishing me a happy birthday on the day of a hint that he's not into me anymore? I'm sorry if I'm acting neurotic lol, I'm just trying to understand how not to screw this up because I really like this guy.

I should also mention when he Snapchat messaged me it was nothing related to my birthday at all and I felt it was just kind of deliberate that he didn't even try to message me a happy birthday text.

U r over thinking it

1- he already wished u b day before hand so it'd ok, he don't wana do it again coz it will come like clingy or he is over doing it
2- he once u comeback he will celebrate so he will wish b day maybe he is hiding it trying to make u worry and forget it do he surprise u? ( But don't hope too much plz)

3- why u care at all, isn't it u too decided not to be exclusive not now at least? I see u have feelings for him already and ur subconscious wishing u didn't agree on that and pushed to be exclusive :/
