This sounds like middle school or like freshmen in high school. Well in my opinion he's probably an emotional wreck and his parents are unaware and potentially part of the issue. He's in a state where he has a girlfriend or one he is dating but not one that gives him the attention that you do and maybe he does have a small crush on you. Whatever happened before he snap might of been a message unread or misinterpreted. Anyways, don't get caught up with guys that are indirect because it's just going to hurt both of you because you two cannot communicate on the same level or degree. It's fun to flirt but flirting can only take a relationship so far. One of you has to come out and see if the relationship can be something more granted only one of you has to be able to see a more intimate relationship to act. Being indirect can be a fall back for many people because they are afraid to be let down and on the other hand the person receiving it doesn't want to let you down either. And take it as you will, you are young so experience both love and let down/heartbreak. Better understand it for yourself now than not knowing what to do later. These are things people have to experience for themselves, it's not easy and may be scary as hell but life goes on and we continue to search for that one. And enjoy all of the experiences you get from this good and bad. Life without risk and reward isn't much of a life anymore if you get what you expect all of the time.
