Honestly, it depends on the guy. For some guys, that means take things slow. For others, it's more along the lines of a friends-with-benefits type situation. For me personally, I'd interpret it as taking things slow.

Just tell him how you feel about him and tell him what situation it is that you and him are in. Both of you need to be 100% transparent. I also think that spending more time together in various activities could start to enhance your feelings for each other, BUT you have to be honest with each other and understand where you guys are at right now. Tell him directly what he means by “keep it casual.”
