What do guys mean by keep it casual and avoid hurt feelings (he said this after I said I would be moving away for a month)?

So basically you've told him that you guys can fool around no strings attached since in 1 mo th you're leaving. I know you were being honest but he probably understood that as 'I don't have to be committed to this person as she's leaving soon anyway'.
