Why does he stare at me when I’m not looking but he avoids me sometimes too?

My dad first noticed that the male receptionist at the gym I go to stares at me when I have my back turned towards him and when I’m not looking at him. He was staring at me even after I left the building and still staring at me as I was getting into my dad’s car (but he quickly looked down when my dad noticed him staring, but resumed looking at me again). The other female receptionists don’t look at me like this. I didn’t believe my dad so I checked for this myself the next time I was at the gym and sure enough, I caught the same male receptionist staring at me as I was leaving the gym. I caught him staring intently at me with a smile on his face in the gym glass door reflection as I was exiting. But I also noticed that he sometimes runs away when I’m near him. For example I was on my way to the gym for a workout - he saw my dad’s car pull up in the car park of the gym - as soon as he saw that, he ran away and looked at me sneakily by hiding behind a corridor in the gym. And today while I was waiting for my dad to pick me up from the gym, the male receptionist ran away and decided to put away water bottles in the fridge on the other side of the gym (2 minutes before closing time) with his back turned to me. Why does he stare at me when I’m not looking yet avoid me like this? He’s about the same age as me, he is of similar height and attractiveness. He has the same hair colour as me. He’s new to the gym (started working about 2 months ago)? I’ve been going to the gym for over a year now.

I wear no makeup, a cap to hide my face, glasses and baggy clothes to the gym. And my dad said he doesn’t stare at other gym-goers, just me. Is it cos I’m odd?
