Well, my experience was a strange one. At first I was all about learning how to drive and getting my permit. But my first few driving lessons scared me more than I expected. My mom did not realize this and was trying to work in a motivation for me to get a job too, so she said "if you want your license, you are going to get a job.". She was not happy when I responded, "I dont think I want my license". She had a very simple response. "You are getting a job.". My mom and Grandma managed to get me into a basic minimum wage job, and suddenly I had a schedule to keep. I did not actually mind working a job and it was kinda nice to have money I earned. But while i was not driving myself I knew it was just costing my family money and they were not getting anything out of it. During this, my Mom and Grandma bought me a car for my 16th birthday. At that point I felt obligated to learn how to drive so I could get myself back and forth to work. To this day I am very thankful that their actions taught me the value of working and the value of learning to drive. At the end I get the freedom to do what I want. This gave me the ability to drive 10 hours to go to a music festival that changed my life.

FREEDOM. Don't know where you live, but I grew up in a relatively rural area, pre-uber with no public transit. Wheels were my path to doing whatever the hell I wanted to do. The tests aren't hard and the actual driving exam is only as stressful as you make it.

Just do it all in small steps so you don't feel it's an enormous task, just concentrate on getting the permit, don't even think about the license yet, I don't know how your system works in USA so I hope that makes sense,
I have the same problem. I got into making self-driving cars for that reason. Tell me if you find a solution.
