What does it mean when a guy says "I have a dark life, another life, I'm dangerous for you"?

He told me from beginning "I'm not good for you" Month later he said he's falling for me and he's afraid with tears on his eyes. But he didn't want to let me go easily. So he sold me a dream but started to flake on me I told him to stop but he couldn't so he ghosted. 4 months later I confronted him.

He's poor Polish he was taking care of me. And used to give me money/gifts/drive when I was broke without a family.

What was all that about?

I already walked away, I told him that we have different path then. He just hold my hand tight for last time then left. But since then I couldn't stop trying to figure out what exactly the reason. He also let his ex of 5 years after living together to go marry someone else and he travelled Poland just to attend her wedding even though he hates going back to Poland. It seems a really serious thing.
He said he have plenty of issues not just one. I asked him is it possible to solve he laughed and said yes.

I moved on. But playing detective game. Anyway I feel like it's a gang issue. Plus his mental issues & money issues & commitment phobic issue. All leads to each other.
But like they say you can never know without evidence. Otherwise its just opinion that could be right or wrong. Let's see what future holds.

Because I was in a vulnerable position and I thought I could help him but he kept falling down while I'm trying to fly. But once I returned to my country/family. I realised I deserved better. Meeting the wrong guy in a lonely time with the right attention can fool us. I suffered enough until I recovered.
