I have the same issue, well, had.
The guy I really fell for was like this. In person we would talk until the sun came up. Over text, nothing.
I figured this meant he wasn’t interested. I moved away, started dating my current boyfriend and was away for 2 years before visiting back with my friends.
This time, that guy and I barely said a word to each-other but kept making eye contact.
In conclusion, I think this behavior might mean he likes you but just isn’t good at written conversation.
I have 2 guy friends. One is very outgoing and talkative in person but barely ever texts, the other is very quiet and shy in person, but we can text for hours. I guess it can be up to what a guy is comfortable with. Some can get their thoughts down better through text, while some struggle to get it through by text.
I can relate to this as a guy. I could write for days or speak about any and every topic with someone I care for so long as they listen and/or text in turn... However, it's easy to feel aloft if categorically you lose sight of their interpretation of your ideas or opinion, and doubt that it's right or even welcome to speak/write further. Sentiments getting lost in translation sets the mind ablaze with insecure belief in one's worthiness, respectability, and/or role of importance.
Honestly... this is nothing more than a situation of a guy being a 'bad texter'. If he seems to enjoy your conversation in person... he really does enjoy conversations with you... he's just a bad texter. Guaranteed!

When you're talking to someone in person, you're able to "feel the crowd", you can get an indication from their nonverbal cues as to how receptive they are to what you're saying; if it looks like you're starting to lose them, then you can make a course correction to get things back on track (assuming they don't take the personal initiative to redirect the convo to more favorable ground). But with text, you have no idea how the other person is really reacting to what you're typing, and in this current era of "ghost first, ask questions later" it really does feel like you're walking on eggshells.

I used to not be a good conversationalist, but I could write texts well. Like writing thoughtful letters almost. I was rooted in planning a conversation and forethought.
As I got better at talking I was like “well I’d rather talk to them face to face and I don’t really want to waste conversation topics during text.” I like to talk face to face with all the proper inflections and timing of a real conversations and of course being able to see their reactions. So I only text as need to have that engagement their, but would otherwise be looking to spend time together in person.
I’ve been on all sides of this thing and it just seems utterly mundane to me. It’s nothing special and it doesn’t mean anything.
Texting is a pain in the ass. It's also completely sterile because it's stripped of inflection expression gestures and so many other things that make conversation interesting. Texting is great for utility, but I'll take talking to someone face-to-face every time.
It's just because most of the guys can get more topics to talk in conversation than texting. They're more confident in conversation while get confused when it comes to texting.
Also opposite can be happens too. Some guys are shy so they can't converse correctly but same guy can talk very long on text.
For me I hate texting, I just like to see her reaction when I say her something, with text I just do not have that feedback.
I will not ignore texting, it is just hard for me and I end up with responses to 3 different thoughts in one text and it end up in big mess, not everyone can keep up with that...
For girls, communicating is an active pleasure, in and of itself. Guys see it as a means of transferring information. Where he can enjoy interacting with you face to face, he may not see any point in texting for ages when he will be able to say things better when he sees you.
Ok, this is a man thing. Some of us like to keep written communication short and to the point.
This is especially the case with men in jobs which require a lot of focus, one such career would be anything to do with Motorsport where this definitely applies.
It's tremendous you have someone who is more interested in talking with you face to face, this is the best form of communication for any relationship, friends and beyond.
I prefer talking in person rather than texting, in text we can't see the nuances of words, can't see reactions, a dialog feeds itself from this reactions, if I say something and your face and body reactions are bad, I can stop, or can continue if u respond well,,, take into consideration I am a rather ugly man, with pretty low confidence, I imagine better looking man are even more inclined to in person conversations.
Could be busy or like to show you authentic undivided attention in person. you really like this persons energy and he doesn't want to play his self for a fool and be easily lead on that doesn't mean anything seriously damaging. you really enjoy that person company let it remain that don't question it when their not around. greet them with the same reassuring confidence.
Most guys don't like to talk on the phone, long. Only so much we haven't already said. Together were already making things to talk about. I'm sure it goes back to our favorite topic? You. i personnaly like dont like texting like i'am always on my phonee but here iamm giving my opinion to somebody I don't know the point is there's like some people who find texting somebody is sillIlly and fake like LITERALLY I prefer to see ur reaction in person and having a real conversation in person way more interesting
As I have noticed so far, guys generally aren't good texters (with a few exceptions, of course). So I'm not particularly surprised by this. Don't read too much into it.
I personally like to talk face to face since it's easier to Express with the face and voice and understand others which helps me keep the conversation going
In my case I I can't stand to use a phone more than a few minutes at a time it gives me headaches. And I'm just more old fashioned I like to talk and have in person human companionship.

Some guys struggle to talk in text other just prefer not too. If the in person chemistry is good I woudnt worry about it

texting is a not a good way to communicate for humans in general. It's not how we've evolved to interact with each other, so it's a perfectly normal thing to not be as engaged through text message; because you can't see nor hear the person.
The first they may not be a text-ere or are known to have many spelling mistakes and don't want to be judged on that. for the 2nd they may be very shy in person and having the digital interface is easier for them.
