Could the fact that my crush thinks I hate him be the reason he is quiet and awkward around me?

um... yeah. He just asked me today if I hated him. It was a really random time to ask too. We were working on history and he just blurted it out kinda quietly and then I was like "what?" and he repeated it. I was so shocked that he thought that I hated him that I didn't say anything. He proceeded to then say, "see, she didn't deny it". (we were sitting by mutual friends) I wound up just sitting there speechless and later it occurred to me that this could be the whole reason he is so awkward, quiet, and weird around me. Could he have, in a roundabout way, been asking me if I "like him" by asking if I "hate him"? So confused at the fact he thinks I hate him. Some people say my shyness can come off as being judgmental or antisocial because I'm so quiet. I feel like I've put all the pieces together, because it seemed like he liked me and he was giving me lots of eye contact but he just wasn't approaching me enough for me to know. Maybe he feels like I don't like him. I think it's my time to tell him how I feel. Finally a good sign. I think. Advice?

It sounds like you’re so shy he took it for dislike. Text him right now that you actually like him and you’re sorry if shyness gave the wrong impression. You still got a shot here! He asked you why you don’t like him. Most guys just shrug and never say anything.

The fact that he asked you personally and didn't go through a friend shows that he cares what you think about him. Make sure he knows how you feel and I wouldn't be suprised if he feels the same way

He 100% thinks you dont like him. He's probably not playing mind games and it took a lot of courage for him to ask if you hated him. Just put that boys mind at ease and tell him.
