There are many reasons:
- Religion: Observant Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, and I think also Rastafarian men grow their facial hair as part of their religious practice.
- Some men grow their besrds because it makes them look older and more mature.
- Some men grow their beards because it makes them look more masculine.
- Many women find beards attractive.
- Some men like how their face feels with long facial hair.
- Some guys just don't care. Beard growing? Doesn't nest either way.
- There are examples of fugitives who will deliberately grow full, thick beards to help change their appearance.

I grew my facial hair Purley for female interest if you look up what facial hair on a man represents to a women who sees him you'll know what I mean
What Guys Said
I used to hate facial hair of any type, but I grew it out cause some girls like it (there was even a few girls I liked, who liked it), but the main reason I did it was I was SICK and tired of people thinking I was way younger than I was. It gets to a point when you get sick of people thinking you are 18, 19, or 20, especially at bars. I have a beard, short one, and wouldnât even think about shaving it. I started growing it like 3 years. My older sister doesnât like it and she offered to cut it for me, haha.
We do it for various reasons, such as family tradition, style, time, sensitive skin, some are too lazy to shave, some jobs require it, etc. I personally grow it out because my chin looks like a gnarled root... hence my goatee. There is no one reason, it's a case by case basis, usually due to personal preference mixed with health at times, sometimes occupational.
Time, something new or to try again, show of commitment/patience, keep face warmer in winter, tradition/beliefs.
For me, my father had a mustache for as long as I can remember. I didn't like just the mustache and last year tried growing out my beard, which has been nice.
Women change their hairstyles, as well, so men can change theirs and their facial hair.
(Joke-Women could try facial hair, too!)Some guy want to look more masculine because of their less attractive jawline, other want to change their look and there are some who don't like to shave.
Personally I tried a beard and I have proper face hair for that, but I feel with a beard unclean.A scruffy beard is comfortable unless it gets too long and itchy or itâs summer and hot as fuck. Clean shaven is fine, but shaving in general sucks and people expect you ro do it every damn day⌠In a perfect world Iâd shave one day and then not shave for two to three weeks and then shave again like getting a hair cut. Thatâs too much variation for people in the work world though.
Because I don't actually look as good as Ryan Reynolds.
I don't know, it makes my jawline more masculine, on the other hand I look a lot older with it. I don't know which is better. If I look at photos without the beard, in the odd one I look great, and in 80% I think I look worse, the beard is more stable looks wise.I do it. It part of me being a Mennonite. It's rebellion aganist the military, shows I'm married. Single men of Amish/Mennonites/German Baptist and a few other groups can't have a beard till they are married. It's like your version of the wedding ring.
Well I grow my facial hair out into a full on beard in the winter because well I work outside and in a cold warehouse and the beard helps keep my face warm against the cold and wind outside.
But generally after that I'll either stay clean shaven or with light stubble because I look better that way.Growing a beard for me was symbol of being a man.
And it felt like I have grown up and I can do anything which apparently was not the truth but it felt like masculine like using mustache and twisting it ends showing symbol of power and pride, though I don't get proper beard it's patchy but I like to grow it, but most of the times I am clean shaved I don't look good in beard as much as I like it 😂Usually it's laziness. But, other times it's because we want to have a more mature look or there might be a practical reason (like cold or hot weather). My facial hair is pretty laughable; I get this awful, uneven, stringy, patchy growth; so I'm always clean shaven for anything that matters. I do grow half decent stubble at first though. I start getting my 5 o'clock shadow by 3, and I can usually get away with not shaving for a couple days. I really shouldn't go passed 3 days though
