There are many reasons:
- Religion: Observant Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, and I think also Rastafarian men grow their facial hair as part of their religious practice.
- Some men grow their besrds because it makes them look older and more mature.
- Some men grow their beards because it makes them look more masculine.
- Many women find beards attractive.
- Some men like how their face feels with long facial hair.
- Some guys just don't care. Beard growing? Doesn't nest either way.
- There are examples of fugitives who will deliberately grow full, thick beards to help change their appearance.
I grew my facial hair Purley for female interest if you look up what facial hair on a man represents to a women who sees him you'll know what I mean
Exactly and because I look pretty damn sexy with it if you don't mind me sayingđ
Since the ability to grow a beard is a sign of physical maturity in men, it is naturally associated with age and grown manhood as is evidenced by a study that found that beards were associated with maturity, power, and higher social status by both men and women.
I shall with pride
It's a gift from the gods
And thank you!!
since I ever started getting facial hair when I was about 14 maybe 15 as far as I can remember I've never completely shaved clean only ever trimmed
I honestly don't remember what I look like without itđđ probably a toddler
Thank you! im quite proud, a lot of my friends who choose not grow facial hair always ask me shave it, I think they're jealous that they can't rock it like me
Even though I've been growing it for years now it's not a big viking beard like you might think it's very close to the picture above its just more matured and filled you could say over the years
Yeah some can rock it some can't
Tell him to never shave itđđ
Ahahahaha you must like your beards very much
I used to hate facial hair of any type, but I grew it out cause some girls like it (there was even a few girls I liked, who liked it), but the main reason I did it was I was SICK and tired of people thinking I was way younger than I was. It gets to a point when you get sick of people thinking you are 18, 19, or 20, especially at bars. I have a beard, short one, and wouldnât even think about shaving it. I started growing it like 3 years. My older sister doesnât like it and she offered to cut it for me, haha.
We do it for various reasons, such as family tradition, style, time, sensitive skin, some are too lazy to shave, some jobs require it, etc. I personally grow it out because my chin looks like a gnarled root... hence my goatee. There is no one reason, it's a case by case basis, usually due to personal preference mixed with health at times, sometimes occupational.
Time, something new or to try again, show of commitment/patience, keep face warmer in winter, tradition/beliefs.
For me, my father had a mustache for as long as I can remember. I didn't like just the mustache and last year tried growing out my beard, which has been nice.
Women change their hairstyles, as well, so men can change theirs and their facial hair.
(Joke-Women could try facial hair, too!)
Some guy want to look more masculine because of their less attractive jawline, other want to change their look and there are some who don't like to shave.
Personally I tried a beard and I have proper face hair for that, but I feel with a beard unclean.
A scruffy beard is comfortable unless it gets too long and itchy or itâs summer and hot as fuck. Clean shaven is fine, but shaving in general sucks and people expect you ro do it every damn day⌠In a perfect world Iâd shave one day and then not shave for two to three weeks and then shave again like getting a hair cut. Thatâs too much variation for people in the work world though.
Because I don't actually look as good as Ryan Reynolds.
I don't know, it makes my jawline more masculine, on the other hand I look a lot older with it. I don't know which is better. If I look at photos without the beard, in the odd one I look great, and in 80% I think I look worse, the beard is more stable looks wise.
I do it. It part of me being a Mennonite. It's rebellion aganist the military, shows I'm married. Single men of Amish/Mennonites/German Baptist and a few other groups can't have a beard till they are married. It's like your version of the wedding ring.
Well I grow my facial hair out into a full on beard in the winter because well I work outside and in a cold warehouse and the beard helps keep my face warm against the cold and wind outside.
But generally after that I'll either stay clean shaven or with light stubble because I look better that way.
Growing a beard for me was symbol of being a man.
And it felt like I have grown up and I can do anything which apparently was not the truth but it felt like masculine like using mustache and twisting it ends showing symbol of power and pride, though I don't get proper beard it's patchy but I like to grow it, but most of the times I am clean shaved I don't look good in beard as much as I like it 😂
Usually it's laziness. But, other times it's because we want to have a more mature look or there might be a practical reason (like cold or hot weather). My facial hair is pretty laughable; I get this awful, uneven, stringy, patchy growth; so I'm always clean shaven for anything that matters. I do grow half decent stubble at first though. I start getting my 5 o'clock shadow by 3, and I can usually get away with not shaving for a couple days. I really shouldn't go passed 3 days though
I just do it because I can. I've had jobs before where it wasn't allowed. And I may again in the future. I also one day might be in a relationship with a woman who wants me to keep it shaved. So right now I just want to enjoy my freedom while I have it!
(It also saves a lot of money on shaving supplies.)
I grow a short beard or stubble. It just looks a lot better but isn't as maintenance intensive as a full beard. I'll go clean shaven every now and then, but haven't stuck with it for more than a day since I left the Army.
I have a beard. I much prefer it. All my life, I thought I just had an unattractive face. Then one day I let my beard grow out over summer and realized that wasn't true. It was just missing a beard. I'll never go beardless again.
My face is rounder so if I grow out my facial hair, it adds definition... or the illusion of it anyway... makes me look my age too.
The baby face is REAL when I shave it all off.
It's probably a mixture of your answers. And tbh some men suit it, some don't it varies.
I haven't yet, I have sort of a baby face and will probably grow one day. But I can't be bothered dealing with the itchiness you get after having it for a couple of weeks.
Because beards are awesome.
I did it bc of my disgusting baby face, tbh I've had a beard for the past 3 years so not sure how i look without one anymore haha
I just genuinely enjoy my facial hair. Especially since my work company started to let its employees grow it out.
For me, it's simple- I shave my head so I like the balance of a tight beard. Otherwise, looks too boyish for my own taste.
i accually hate being clean shaven, myself... i only used razors when i didn't grow thick enough anywhere to look halfway decent... now i just trim what i dont want and trim length as i want where i want... i still grow patchy tho
3 reasons for the most part:
it's tedious to shave all the time
Sometimes you just wanna let it grow
Screw shaving
3 reasons for shaving:
Job requires it
Sometimes you wanna change up
You get tired of your beard
I've had a beard most of my adult life. There is a rationale, in that women that like clean shaven men really want a baby to mother, whereas women that respond to beards want a grown man to have sex with. Also, I can't be arsed to shave.
I shave mine because I generally look youthful, so I prefer trying to go for a 'cute' look rather than a 'rugged' look.
Some guys look 10 times better with a beard, others just like having one I guess.
No reason it just looks nice. I might grow a beard but It's easier to keep my face clean without hair.
Few reasons.
1. I hate shaving. It really sucks to do that everyday
2. I sort of like how it looks on me to have more facial hair
I do it because it is cheaper to go to my barber every month or so and use beard oil to keep it healthy that it is to own a razor
Some combination of it usually looks good to have facial hair and it can get itchy and annoying to have facial hair. You find a balance.
- it feels warm and comfy
- It's more masculine
- In some instances it can cover up bad spots on your skin
- It's good at making a sharper jawline for some
I don't know about others. But I grow them because they look good on me and I like it that way.
