Why is this misconception still prevalent that males judge harsher than females when it comes to looks?

Although both genders care of looks which is obviously natural, it is often said men are harsher than women when it comes to judging looks, even though various studies and surveys say otherwise. Many dating apps' studies including the infamous OKCupid study found females rated a few males attractive as opposed to males who rated majority of females attractive. When it comes to one night stand or short term dating, women have been found to be picker. Males are often blunt coming to looks, while females are not blunt, due to which there's a difference we see between what they say versus what they really go for. Even on rating groups, males rate females generously, while females generally don't rate unless askers are good looking. Besides this, even biology supports this, as during ovulation when females are very horny, they want attractive guy to fuck and get annoyed if partner is unattractive, whereas males when are horniest, won't mind fucking unattractive girl. It's not wrong caring of looks, since it's in our biology to care of looks but shouldn't this misconception that males harsher than females in judging looks be dispelled?
