Guy's Behavior

Did he do it out of courtesy?

We were playing red hands (a game in which you have to hit hard on each other's hands), so this guy hit me hard on my hand, and then suddenly when he saw my hand literally got red, he took my hand in his hand and gave it a gentle rub, and he even apologized and was very guilty.. Did he just do this out of courtesy or does he have a thing for me?
