Would a guy really do the most just to play you? Help me?

This is the first time I think I’ve ever been played or at least I don't know what is going on.

Two months ago I started talking to one of my friends and we ended up sleeping together which ended up being a routine thing. However over time, I starting analyzing things (i know my fault) and beginning to think that he was into me. I kept putting up walls like not letting him cuddle or kiss me and he would just pull me closer or do anything to get me to surrender in. He’d compliment me and the way that he’d look into my eyes just seemed like he was crazy about me.

It wasn’t until he asked me randomly to go into the city to walk through central park that i started getting feelings. Because now we were transitioning into the real world. He turned his read receipts on and i mentioned it and he said as a joke that he wanted me to know when i’m ignoring him. If i was sick, he’d bring me food. He’d text me right away back every single day (a little extra but i wasn’t used to this) and then eventually he invited me to this nice restaurant. He said that he saw it on the way home from work and wanted to go. I didn’t know if it was a date and i was too scared to ask but i agreed and we had a nice time! We went back to his place and painted and then he had me sleep over, no sex. The next day we texted all day and he wanted to sleep over my place. After that day, everything changed. He doesn’t text me as much, he still does every day but maybe 5 sentences exchange max and he turned his read receipts off randomly. I just don’t understand what happened. I know i didn’t do anything wrong but he slept over again last night and everything seemed ok but then we’re back to normal where he’s not talking to me.
