Do girls really look at a guy's backpack in school/college?

I have been wondering about this because when I'm on campus (Rutgers University if you're wondering) I noticed that most chicks go for the dude with the black backpack. It seems like as long as made by JanSport or The North Face it's fine. But if it's Timberland, Nike, Jumpman or some other brand it's NOT OK. And I tried this myself, when I had a Timberland Backpack I asked a girl for her digits & was shot down. The next week I had a North Face backpack & asked the same girl for her # again & we hooked up. And I think dudes notice this too, because almost everyone has that played out North Face Vault backpack in black among others.

So my question is for Ladies is do you guys really factor in a guy's backpack into the rest of his outfit? & if so why?

i like this question because I have looked at backpacks! but before you hate me thinking I judge guys by their backpacks let me clarify, I dont...let me explain:

its not the first thing I notice..its one of the last when I'm attracted to a guy...

when I like a guy...its AFTER I become friends with him and get to know him a little...and then I notice how he dresses, acts, talks, his style and hey since were in college...backpacks stand out! esp with me because I'm a science major and yea all my friends who are the same major as me are nerdy-ish lol and we need our bags to carry books...

the guy I like, he coincidentally has a black jansport! and I don't like him because he has one..he just coincidentally does! but when I did notice he had one when I first started liking him, I thought it was sexy...hes also a science major...and he's smart funny, attractive...and he carrys his black jansport only on one shoulder...and walks so manly...i love it!

and carrying such a bookbag I guess ADDS to his overall look, it doesn't TAKE AWAY anything from ANY GUY. just ADDS. its a plus!

especially when you compare it to other bookbags guys have nowadays...like I'm not a big fan of messenger...or those nike stringy ones...i don't like them at all personally...i like a simple guy who has a simple dressing style...thats just my opinion...and I think black jansport type bookbags are the simplest. and traditional too. its the only bookbag that's sort of masculine.

but like I said, it never takes away anything, its just another additive in being attractive. just don't ever, everrrr get a roller bookbag with handles.

she definitely didn't shoot you down because of your backpack. there are other reasons for why she could change her mind. unless you were wearing a backpack made of burlap, held together with duct tape, with condoms falling out of it, it wouldn't be the deciding factor.

I tend to like the swiss brand of back packs in general on guys or girls

i don't tend to notice backpacks on a guy

but as logn as it's made for a guy then I'm happy

i tend to notice other things more like hair or his eyes more so than his back pack

I'm not a lady but I think I have a good answer. High school never ends. Hate to say it but its true. There will always be people shallow enough to judge another person by if he or she is wearing brand names or not. Most reasonable people don't care about that but when you are surrounded by unreasonable people then that factor doesn't matter too much.

People who wear brand names do it because they think it makes them look cooler if they do. They also do it to communicate that they have the capital to buy the stuff in the first place. So the girls who judge on brand names are buying into this bogus hype that these clothes make one cooler and that the guy has money (which is false on both counts in my experience. I found that most of the guys who wear these clothes make me want to distance myself from the human race. Oh, and they're also broke, their parents pay the bills). You don't want a girl who judges a guy like that because she will drive you INSANE. So wear what you want to and what you think looks cool and let everyone else spend $60 on a backpack when you can get a bitchin Hellsing messenger bag with Alucard on the front (I'm a bit of an anime geek, works for me) for half that and it works just as well. Forge your own path, I swear its sexier than Abrcrombie.

While I'm sure they probably at least notice it, I seriously, seriously, seriously, seriously doubt that any woman would base her decision about whether or not a guy is attractive purely on their backpack, even use it as a determining factor.

The type of backpack a guy wears doesn't matter at all. Most of the time, I don't even notice that a guy is even wearing a backpack.

I might notice the style of a guy's backpack, but that's it. I don't pay attention to the brand, and I don't judge the guy for it. It's just a bag.

I don't think I've ever noticed it. I turned down a guy wearing a LV backpack once. It doesn't really matter to me
