Was arguing with him about how easy it is for men to objectify women and reduce them to their bodies, and how shallow they tend to be.

Basically I ranted to him about how awful men can be - then towards the end told him he was a very intelligent man who I'd been attracted to.

He must have been very confused, I think.

Yeah perhaps a rant is not the most effective form of communication in that Instance. Sounds like a productive back-and-forth dialogue where you ask his point of view and discuss points of similarities and differences may be more unifying and less confusing

Oh I did ask for his perspective, and told him I was interested in getting a male's view on these issues.

After our ranting, he told me I was very obstinate, and that women are too often too accommodating and they get exploited as a result.

We were talking past each other a lot, but it was definitely one of the weirdest discussions I've ever had with a man.

Because as you get OLDER, and this is my personal experience, and I'm almost 30, it gets HARDER. Men and women NEED each other. Start getting along. I'm single for a reason. And I refuse to date a man who acts like you and won't do his job as a man. I ain't asking for a dependant. I asked for a man. Not a boy.
