When guys make comments such as saying you're tiny, is that actually a compliment or what?

I mean, it's not the first time I receive comments of this type: you're a tiny girl, you would die under the weight of my arm...
I mean, probably other girls would find it as patronising and offensive as I do, but what do guys think when they say it? Do they think it is actually a compliment? I consider myself a woman, and when you're called tiny or cute it feels you're being belittled.

I think the way it's said can make it mean different things of course so I can understand if you get upset about it. Personally when I say/said it to girls before I meant it as in they're cute and petite as a good thing, I'm complimenting their physique as I think petite women are very attractive and I love that body type. I have said that kind of thing to make them feel good about themselves and genuinely meant it as positive reinforcement and made sure to explain why I said it and what I meant so they weren't confused or took it the wrong way. I don't exactly call them "small" but I think I may have said tiny before but I can't remember. I think I said to my first ex that she was very tiny and petite and told her it was very attractive and she loved it.

That's always a compliment, but one that does not come out like a compliment.

It's they way they find to say that you are very and really cute to them, but they just can't get themselves to use those endearing terms.

A lot of men are very protective by nature, because for the last 40,000 years at least, we have played that role, fighting off beasts and stuff, so... it's a very primal thing, that's why you get it that much.

Just think about how a lot of women say this about babies " Sooooo cute, I just want to squish you till you die. explode " or something, ( yes I've heard that very often) and women do not really mean it of course, and most people do not even overthink about it. That just comes out in an odd way.
