How long would he have kept me as his friends with benefits, if it wasn't for me to finally cut my ties from him?

So long story, short. So this is old, like last year shit, but I I'm just a bit curious. But I was Involved in a situationship. I met him back in (2014). And we Stop talking like last yesrs, but we have been knowing each other for about 6-7 years now. But, I'm just wondering how long would he have dragged the friends with benefits between him and I and would he have tried to commit himself to me. But my reasons for asking that. Well, at times when I wanted to get out and leave and be done with the friends with benefits. He would make it seem like, how I was breaking his heart. Like, that probably was him trying to be Manipulative. But he would make such a big deal about me leaving. So years later. I finally stop giving in to him and the BS. He says, how he still wanted to try, but he Understood if I didn't want to. Like even with last year, we didn't hook up very often. But yet, he wasn't trying to let me go. 6-7 years is a lot to be sexual Involved with someone without a commitment. So what are y'all thoughts? Smh

I did make the right decision. But, I was able to ask him some questions. Like, how come him and I never dated or why haven't we dated. So he says, when he try to come closer to me, how I ended up fooling around with some other guy. But I say, that's not Completely true. He had years to be with me. But that cheater was in a whole relationship back in 2014 when we 1st met. And probably was still dating her years later.
