So a few weeks ago, my friend (Ryan) told me about a mutual friend (Brett) - I didn’t even know that Ryan / Brett knew each other - i never saw them talk with each other at work.
Ryan told me that he was good friends with Brett. Told me that he was at the gym with him a few days ago and that he is a machine. Very fit. He went on and on about Brett: very friendly, in a senior position at work and always immaculately dressed. I just shrugged, as I used to like Brett but I wasn’t sure if he liked me back.
flash forward a few days later, Brett kept popping up in areas where I was. I’d be in the kitchen, a few minutes later he would appear.
he looked at me as he walked past my cubicle- there’s been a few incidents when I’ve caught Brett staring at me for long periods of time out of the corner of my eye. The only time he got caught, he looked away quickly…one day, we nearly bumped into each other in the hallway- to prevent myself from physically walking into him, I pulled my arms up and he gave my elbow a squeeze.
One day, i was invited out for drinks by another male colleague - 15 minutes later, Brett was hovering near my desk but didn’t say anything to me.
for One week, I had to work on a different floor so I wasn’t at my desk - I dialled into a meeting that Brett hosted and he asked “where are you? Are you working at home?” He sounded genuinely concerned.
I was transferred to another office in a different area of the city, so I emailed some people about the change. Brett replied with “you’ll be missed. Looking forward to catching up with you when I’m at your office”
I don’t know what to think of this - Ryan didn’t directly say that Brett fancies you but I don’t know why he told me about Ryan in this way…
guys if your friend likes a girl, do you tell her by making your friend look good?

Hmmm sounds like there might be somethin goin on with Brett for sure! A few things stick out:
- Weird that Ryan was tellin you all that about Brett outta nowhere, hypin him up like that. Guys don't usually do that unless tryna set somethin up.
- Brett suddenly bein around wherever you are all the time is suspicious. Like he's tryna "casually" run into you.
- Catchin him starin at you a lot is kinda obvious he's into you. And squeezin your arm that one time is def not just friendly.
- Him askin where you were at that meeting shows he pays attention when you're not around.
- Sayin he'll miss you and wants to catch up more is for sure him hintin he's interested!
Seems pretty clear Ryan was lowkey playin wingman for his boy Brett by plantin those seeds about him to you. We do that for our friends sometimes if we know they like a girl.
I'd say Brett is shy about makin a real move but definitely likes you. Might be worth shootin him a smile next time he hovers around, see what happens!
