Guys why would you keep watching all ig stories of a girl who ghosted you?

Not sure if you can say I’ve ghosted him but this is about a guy I’ve been texting over lockdown. There was a time we used to talk everyday and then we kinda started to get distanced until we went almost 3 weeks without initiating any contact. Suddenly he shows up on my dm’s so he reacts to one of my stories and sends me a selfie saying hi. Then I say hi back, he reads my text but then ignores it. Then I ask him “Are you okay?”. And again he sees it and leaves me on read. As it’s not the first time this has happened, I decide to text him “Are you avoiding me? Honestly I don’t understand why you initiate a conversation if you’re going to ignore me afterwards” and he replies “Avoid you? I’m sorry if I became unexpectedly busy this evening!! I was just saying hi... didn’t realise there was a time constraint by which I had to reply” after this I left him on read cause his response really pissed me off. It’s been a week and I’m not planning on texting him at all. But he keeps watching every single one of my stories like religion as he’s done so far.
