If a guy is being teased about a girl does that mean he likes the girl?

I have a friend, and I was recently informed (from my other friend) that the group we hang out with tease him saying "Are you sad your girlfriend didn't come hang today" or "Why arnt you over there with your girlfriend" etc.

This never happened whenever I was around, but I am unsure if the reason why they are teasing him was because they thought i liked him (cause no one would know if I did or not cause I act the same towards him to everyone else) or that he likes me? I don't know.

Or maybe even actually know, cuz he told them, or cuz they figured it out cuz it's obvious
