What’s going on with my insecure awkward crush?

So there’s this guy I met at Summer theatre camp 2 years ago. He’s 2 years younger than me and he was attached to me during camp but in a friendly way. And then 2 years later, he got singing lessons with my teacher and we had a recital and we saw eachother again and he kinda acted a bit strange when we talked. He was smiling and said one word answers and acting a bit timid and said to me “have a good day” like, who says that? Then he asked my singing teacher for my number and we text but not for hours cause he isn’t the best at texting and he might be bi and he’s into anime and friends with mostly girls but he isn’t a play boy. He was so excited for me to see him in a show and when he saw me, we gave eachother a huge hug and his mom really likes me and told us we can talk for a few minutes. And she took a picture of us, but the whole time we talked, he was kinda jittery and his face was red and after I gave him a gift he hugged me and I asked him if he wanted to come over and swim at my neighborhood lake and he smiled and said maybe but that made me sad cause usually maybe means no and his friend (a girl) came and said to him “did you find *insert my name” and he said she’s right here so she knew he was looking for me and after 5 minutes he left to take off his costume but I felt like he wanted to leave me and we hugged one last time and he squeezed me and he said we will talk more. I was crying in the car cause I feel like I won’t see him anymore and he doesn’t want to be close with me. The next day he sent the picture of us though. What’s going on? Does he like me or not? What do you think I should do about this situation?

The way I see it is that he possibly has a crush on you too but he is too shy to express his feelings.

Also, what could be a cause of his odd behavior is the fact that the girl was with him made him act the way he did. Perhaps that she has a crush on him and that he is in a situation where he does not know how to behave in order not to hurt or offend any of the 2 girls (you and the other one).

I would say that you should try to get him alone and talk about your feelings. Depending on the way he reacts, you should then know where you stand. However, the fact that he sent you a picture could indicate that he is trying to hint that he likes you too.
