Does it mean anything when your ex starts following you again on social media and asks for your phone number?

Summer of 2017, I met Jose through my mom and we started out as friends. Mind you, we were together for 36 days but it was fast and intense. Jose was like me, shy, quiet, polite, introverted, smart, sensitive and sweet. He didn’t have a life when I met him, we were both 21 years old (I’ll be 26) and he spent his time working and playing video games. Turns out Jose and I had bad luck when it came to relationships too. He would say that relationships are meant for love and didn’t believe in taking advantage of others. One night as friends we made out, afterwards he revealed that he needed someone in his life because he was tired of being lonely and wanted to see my face every day. A day later, he told me that I was the girl of his dreams and asked me to be his girlfriend and I accepted. Shortly after, I gave him my virginity. Barely two weeks go by and Jose revealed that he had gotten a second job, was starting community college soon, and his mother was in the hospital, I told him that I would be there and support him. He became very distant and less talkative, Hell, he couldn’t even have sex with me. Why we broke up: I really didn’t want to break up even fought for him but he basically said that he couldn’t handle another responsibility, was becoming more stressed and overwhelmed and said he didn’t want me to be his punching bag if it got bad for him, he wanted to give me love and happiness but felt it was unfair if it was me just doing it and not him. He was crying hysterically while telling me all this by the way. So, I agreed to break up with him. 4 years later, I wake up to find that he started following me on Instagram and messaged me asking for my phone number.
Does it mean anything?
