My boyfriend lied about his age and I don't know what to do now?

We met on dating app where he put he was 38. I believed that because he looks even younger then that! A month went by and became a couple, never really discussing the age. 7 months later!! we were travelling and I was holding our passports and took a look at his... and boy, was I shocked! He is actually 44. Ofc I asked him and he said that well, I never asked how old he is? His argument is that he wasn't serious on the app, that he was just looking to get laid (preferably some younger girl) but when he met me he knew he was in love. He says he even completely forgot about it, that he didn't try to hide it, that it just never came up until now. I am shocked. He is amazing and all, but it feels like all of this was based on lie because my age radius on the app was 38! He says that it's a blessing in disguise because if he hadn't lied we would've never met... like wtf? It doesn't really matter to me now that he is 44 instead of 38, but if he lied about such a trivial thing... what other things has he been hiding?

If the whole thing started as a lie it’s a red flag. You never know what else he could’ve lied about. Could he have lied about worse things? Yes. However it started off on a bad note already. If you are as taken aback about it as you are (which I don’t blame you), I would honestly leave the guy. He should stop playing games with his age & face that he’s 44. If a girl wants an older guy she’ll go get one, no need to bait younger, unwilling women who are not comfortable with it. He doesn’t even seem sorry about it either.

Would you REALLY have gone out with him if he actually said on his profile he was 44? No. You wouldn’t have. Be honest. You would likely have written him off simply because of his age.
