Agree or disagree, thicc is just another word for fat?

Thicc originally meant a woman who had larger hips but still was a good healthy weight. Then, just like the word curvy, it got appropriated by fat people because they wanted another positive words to describe themselves
Precisely. Curvy used to meet a woman who had an hourglass figure and well developed breasts and hips without having extra weight on her. Now if a woman describes herself as curvy it's almost always a woman who is just overweight. And there in the midst of doing the same thing with thicc.
It's a shame really
Just fat is not attractive to me but thicc, which isn't a word I use but the sentiment is sexy - some cushin for the pushin type of thinking - I know many who are like that but I do not ever feel they are "fat"
@Apple1996 agreed on what to say lol - as I mentioned, I never use the "thicc" word :)
And yes ha... cushion is better in my opinion - for all the senses :)
@Apple1996 Thanks for the MHO on a sexy question :)

Heavily disagree.
"If her stomach is still flat, she's thick, not fat."
A "thick" girl just has exaggerated/big thighs, booty, hips, or boobs, but their stomachs aren't chunky or fat. "Thicc" is an even further exaggerated version of that, like her below. How would SHE be considered "fat/obese?"
I know OP is gay and all, but this take on thicc women is just wrong.

Not really. "Thicc" was co-opted from AAVE slang. "Thick" could mean that you're a little chubby, but it (at least where I'm from) meant you had a bug butt which can be due to both muscle and body fat.
What the wider internet culture regards as thicc tends to be vastly different from how it was used in my community.
True. Cause white men often think any girl over 130 pounds is "fat." While black/Hispanic men aren't as harsh when it comes to thicker women. So when white men started using "thick," it was on women who were like 115 pounds, but a C cup, cause that's "curvy" to them, even though thick, and especially THICC, is beyond just having minor, barely-there curves.
Exactamundo. Our cultural lenses differ so drastically that its just jarring seeing and hearing the misuse of our cultural terms. This conversation reminds me of when a guy in community college said that people started liking big butts in the late 2000s like nah playa. Black and Brown people been liking the morphological traits neglected by white men. Likely in excess of centuries.
Pretty much ONLY white men have an issue with curves. The reasons are socioeconomic though. In the West, being skinny/thin is a trait of wealth and privilege, implying you have the time to go the gym and invest that much time in vanity. While being curvy is considered bad because of the assumption she's a glutton, lazy, has "poor willpower," etc. Even though in Europe during the medieval ages and in most cultures, being curvy used to be the "wealthy people's trait" because to have enough food to look that way was only reserved for the rich.
Black, Hispanic, and other cultures also like curves due to child-rearing hips and the implication buried in our DNA that the woman won't break in half while delivering kids. This is why the white men who DO appreciate curves and don't fat-shame, tend to be working class white men, not upper middle class and rich men; those guys definitely want skinny Beverly Hills models.
And while there's a HUGE difference in curvy, plus-sized, fat, and obese, MOST cultures throughout society appreciated curves on women more than not. Even 30,000 years ago.

Thicc has to do more with tone and shape. Thicc is basically Phat vs Fat. Thicc is having chub in all the right places (mostly lower body and in the hips/thigh/ass area)

But i spell it thick. I don't know who came up with double CC
I've asked many guys about this. There is also "slim thick". But sometimes a lazy speaker might just say "thick" to mean "slim thick".
So the answer is "no in this sense" . This type of thick refers to "just enough" fat I the right places (hips and breasts).
Most men love the hourglass figure, Scientific theories would agree.
Fat = overweight (whether the stomach is flat or not, overweightis overweight)
Slim Thick = not overweight (only used to refer to women with round hip/butt, smaller waist than hip, and full boobs)
BMI is fact. Opinion doesn't matter.
Thicc is just a new spelling. Thick has always meant built like a brick house. It is a full-fugured woman who doesn't have defined muscles but isn't flabby. Usually around as US size 14. Then you have skinny thicc which is around a US size 8/10 that has curves, thick thighs and a butt but is slender.

If I call a woman thicc, I mean she's got a little more weight than usual, but it works for her and she still looks good. But mostly when I see women call themselves thicc, it tells me they are overweight and insecure about it, usually the pfp's have nothing below the neckline. The insecurity is usually more off-putting than the weight itself.
Also sometimes it gives me the impression that the person has mistaken self love for a lack of self care. Like they're saying: "Take me as I am, because I have no interest in improving myself". Major turnoff to me.
I think it all depends on what you're talking about and who you're talking about if you're talking about a girl thick is good and it depends on if it's really fat if you're talking about a guy and his cock are you talking about fat are thick it is the same thing I think on a girl there are some thick that are just hot and sexy there are some fat perceived as thick that are hot and sexy but I think it all depends on the girl and how she perceives herself
I think it's meant to be a compliment, supposed to describe someone who has an attractive amount or distribution of fat.
I personally don't use the term, because I don't believe any amount of fat is attractive.
Oh, oh! I don't want to have children.
Interestingly, statistics do show that men who want fewer/no children have a preference for smaller breasts and thinner women, whereas the opposite is true for those who want more children.
A guy's body preferences are definitely correlated with his reproductive drive, I suppose it's natural to look out for fertility cues subconsciously so perhaps the opposite may be true as well.
I mean... the women who I have fallen for the hardest all had some sort of reproductive issue (PCOS, POI) so that's pretty telling lol.
Not a word I’ve ever used, but it seems to be a euphemism that men will use when acknowledging reality is unavoidable but they still want to get in there. I’ve been off the market for over 11 years though, and that wasn’t really a thing at that point.
They're different meanings to me. Fat is just that, overweight and typically unattractive. Thicc means that yes there is some body fat, but typically the hourglass body frame is still kept and the body fat is stored in the boobs, butt or thighs versus the gut.
A woman can be fat and attractive, it is not a matter of weight, it is the silhouette. You can be fat so long as you maintain the "Golden Ratio", for women that would be the "hourglass" figure and to a lesser degree the "Pear" shape. I'd suggest watching the film "The Science of Sex Appeal".
Yeah this is why I don’t call anyone thicc anymore. Even though I mean it as a compliment, it always comes off as an insult. But thicc is meant as a compliment but nobody ever is glad they were called thicc.
Yep. That’s about how it went for me too. 🤣
Is there a difference between thicc and thick? Because I've never even heard of that spelling before.
I think if I called a woman either, I'd be skating on thin ice. Whilst I got you here.. Was it you that asked about buying a electric car because your car stalled a lot?
I did try and message you... When did you last have your spark plugs changed?
Sell it by all means but I will bet 100 to one.. it's the spark plugs causing it to stall.
I remember asking you about the immobiliser but after we went on to a different subject I forgot to go back to it..
Thick means you still have form and shape like a fit woman or model but with extra meat (muscle) and also like curvy set which means the woman is still beautiful & hot. Fat means you don't have any shape or form in your body at all.
Fat is used only realted to human or animal kind of thing mostly living being. And thick is general term for representing the thickness of any thing in measurements. Eg - this tree has a thickest trunk in the world so you can't use fat insted of thick. So i disagree
Bro I'm a English teacher. I write my opinion and told my view that's it.
Okay I'm not saying you're stupid because that would be rather arrogant of me
And since you claim to also be a fan of linguistics I shall explain for you
Thiccc is a derivative of the word thick
And while they both have the same pronunciation fundamentally have different meanings
In this case thiccc is a derivative homophone
Since you're an English teacher you can stop reading from here but for the other people I'm going to continue to explain what derivative means and what a homophone is
A derivative means that it takes inspiration or has its root in something that has previously existed in this case meaning that it comes from the word thick
A homophone means a word that shares the same sound but has a different meaning I don't know if too many homophones off the top of my head but they do exist and there is a word for it and that is homophone
There is also homograph which if I remember correctly means that the word is spelled the same but means something different
A homonym means that it is both spelled and sounds the same yet still mean something different and you might ask why this is and I will respond to you that English is just incredibly confusing sometimes
I forgot to put the word they in between pronunciation and fundamentally
I think thicc means curvy, not quite fat but like... U know... Not an anorexic stick girl... But with some chunk in the right areas.. like her butt n tits... Thicc means sexy... That's different to fat... Fat is like an obese woman.. thicc is someone like... Beth Bennet from babestation
no thicc just means that they are big boned (so to speak).
my version of thicc would be
- thicc (UK 12-14 poss 16) but these ladies usually have larger thigs/bellies but are in proportion to their body e. g. they are thicc all over
Most guys I know use the term "thicc" for a big and fuckable ass. I'm into more petite and slim girls, so I've never cared to use the term. I've also noticed I'm not usually attracted to the girls my buddy says are thicc.
Women come in different shapes. A woman can be fit and still have an exceptionally broad ass and thunder thighs. I think that's the shape "thicc" refers to. Although it could also be used to describe women with an abundance of blubber.
thicc and fat are not the same. people have ruined the meaning of the word thicc- the word is so misused its ridiculous. examples below.

No. It's just a lot of fat women don't want to accept they're just fat. So they call themselves "thicc" as though it changes the reality.
Here's a guide. If you got a bit of a tummy, some arm jiggles, thick thighs maybe even curvy. Then you're most likely thick.
If your stomach sticks out farther than your boobs. If you get winded walking up a flight of stairs. If you're maxing out your home scale. You're not thick, you're fat.
Fat and thick are two different things, fat stops being attractive to most people, thick is just an in between fat and slim that still gives shows a girls curves, I think
Exactly
Disagree, fat is fat, thicc has a certain look to it. A woman with some meat on her bones
It's fat in the right places, but fat is still fat, so I'd say yes.
Fat should still not be mistaken for Thicc however.
After a certain % of body fat it's just being overweight or worse: obese.
Whole heartily disagree, you can be thicc with an mind blowing figure and incredible body. Fat is just plan ugly and grotesque, over hanging, wobble arm, flab in places you never want to see it.
Thick/thicc typically means having bigger thighs, a good sized butt, and a nice rack. The most important thing with being thick/thicc is having a flat stomach.
Fat means the percentage of fat that a woman's body contains. Thicc is where or how those fat percentages are stored.
It's like men's muscles. When a man has poorly shaped muscles or muscles are too big, some women do not like it.
Not every pretty woman who is slim can be thicc when she gains fat, so it is not something between slim and fat. And of course, not every man likes thicc, and if so, not everyone likes every thicc woman.
It is a ord to try to make "fat" sound more acceptable or normal, and I'll bet that the 58% of the girls who disagree with this statememt are either "fat" or "thick" or both.
Agree. I have a friend who is two times larger than me, call herself chubby/thicc.
Disagree. Thicc is shapely. It's not dumpy, cottage cheese that I've encountered a much too many times.
There's super fit girls with, admittedly, nice cushioning for a derriér but still built like an hourglass/fairy so to imply it means something as harsh and flat-on-the nose as fat, is wrong.
For me Fat is another way of saying untouchable
Thicc is like saying fat but its still sexy. Its kinda a context.
There’s a difference between thicc and fat. Although some people use it in different contexts. I’m on the thinner side but I’m thicc. It’s genetics.
If a girl is thiccc she obviously has fat, but she doesn't have to be obese to be considered thicc. Im down with the thickness. 😂😂
Is that how thick is being spelled now? Just trying to keep up lol. I think it depends on the person. I would think it means maybe above weight but not fat.
@crossdressingrihno thanks for the explanation ha. I officially have graduated to not getting any younger. I thought it wasn't going to happen to me but it did.
Also you tech on more C's the sexier it is
I think three C's is the go to when something is hot and going above that just makes you look weird
@crossdressingrihno that does make sense with added C's. Too many would look weird.
I might need someone younger than me to help bring back a word from the early 90s that we used to say. I have tried and all the younger people I work with laugh (I'm ok with it because it is funny when they laugh). I want to bring back the word mint. I was a big fan of the word mint. Ha
ehh, not quite. I'd call myself stocky. Maybe Im trying to be positive. But even in my workout seasons I just get bulky...
I mean its all perspective and relative. But perhaps its how you wear it.
I've always interpreted it as another way to say curvy or voluptuous.
I hate that word but I do agree about the fat bit, I don't agree about the still fuckable though.
I guess in my mind I think of it “built thicker, but still shapely.”
I don't know... different people will use in different ways
I never use it
Thick and fat might differ. Fats is when a person is fat and with real fats and the body can show it all. And the thick person is somehow fat but with a more toned body with a simple toned or tight flesh rather or physique.
I think thicc means curvy. There was a discussion about this on Gossip Girl last year.
I don't use that word, but I think it kind of comes close to "Voluptuous"rather than fat.
Two ways I've seen it being used, and it depends on context but either could mean fat, or it could mean very curvy with large features
Kinda... I feel it's fat but still shapely. Like bigger than ideal but boobs and bum are bigger than stomach.
Nope no way, it is however a term used by fat people to appear attractive and thicc, when that's not the case, thicc is thick thighs, big booty, and big boobs, not stomach necessarily, especially not obese stomach
If "thicc" means this then yes:
Not at all. They're completely different.. fat and thick is the way the womens body is made up.. No ones body is the same
Some girls are just built bigger, even when they are not fat. Bigger bone structure, more muscle, etc.
Well, means you do have some fat, but in the right places and not much of it.. you are thicker than a thin person.
No, it is not. There is a difference between having nice curves and being really fat.
It is just a nice way to say "fat"
It is so hypocritical.
everyone figured out what plus size and curvy meant. they'll be a new word next year. Rules for girls:
1. Don't be fat
Actually that was a bad example... Look up Kendra lust... That's what thicc really means... Or this "police woman fucks thief" video I once watched... Most police woman are thicc for some reason
I’m thick lol no and If someone thinks I’m fat so be it.
More to do with how big and where the fat is stored
In some cases, yes it is.
In others, they might be not quite fat or not quite slim. Chubby?
Ofcourse... Just making it sound nice doesn't change the meaning
I disagree thick and fat are to different thing thick and curvy are that same fat is just what it is fat thick is saying a woman is curvy rhat all
I have noticed it will be used more along economical or cultural lines. the first group being by gals of lower economical means the second group being black gals. these groups are NOT mutually exclusive, nor do they entirely overlap.
