How to choose better guys?

I’ve never had a boyfriend but all the guys I’ve been in talking stages or that have been interested in me have ending up being what i assume to be narcissistic start off incredibly sweet and affectionate and showing tons interest in dating before turning cold and playing kind games (talking about how they flirt with other women to me) when I express anything back. I’m always the one being pursued so im not sure how I can avoid falling or guys like this until after I see their true colors.

First step, find a guy with decent a job. Of course, you're in the age group where guys may be college students. That's fine, just make sure that they are good students and working towards a useful degree.

But the guys who are hurting me were all incredibly smart one was an intern at a computer company and another had his own business.
