Guys, Why did he randomly tell me not to fall for him?

So I've been seeing this guy for a little over a month, we were both quite clear to start that this would be a friends with benefits type of thing because neither of us are looking to be tied down atm. Things have been going well and we text quite often (well sexting more so) we were doing this the other day when he randomly said "be careful not to fall for me" I brushed it off and said that feeling complicate things and I was more interested in the fun without the drama, made a little joke that I should have said the same to him. We carried on texting but he seemed a little colder after that. I'm just confused by the situation, I thought we were on the same page but I'm starting to think he wants more 🤷‍♀️ any guys shed some light?

Maybe you falling for him would make him feel bad because he wouldn’t be able to give you want you want and it’s always a tragic situation when love is unrequited. Maybe he doesn’t want to hurt you. He just wants to have fun together.


Or, maybe he’s on the verge of having feelings for you, and he knows that if you catch feelings for him, he won’t be able to stop himself from wanting more—but for whatever reason he knows it won’t work out and so he wants to stop it before it can even start.


Basically, you falling for him would really complicate things and he wants to keep things light and fun and not have things become complicated.

Or… If he’s doing a reverse psychology thing… It could be him actually wanting you to catch feelings for him… This could work as subconscious priming to put that seed in your mind… Just like if someone told you to not think about pink elephants, you’d actually start thinking about pink elephants… But, who knows? All this is just speculation. 🧐
