Why are some friendships so difficult?

My best friend from school is a guy, we have been through so much together and it has never been this confusing.

Since we have both become single things have gotten a little complicated, we have been a little naughty via vid call although nothing physical. We had a big chat and both decided that the friendship was too important to risk for "friends with benefits".

The problem is since that chat he seems to be getting distant, he has stopped initiating conversations, he will reply immediately if I text but I don't get any of the memes or funny jokes from him anymore like I once would. He just seems to be shutting me out and it has never been like this before. I am scared I am losing him, even though we have spoken about our friendship. What should I do?

I would say to just give it time and let things blow over as much as it can. Eventually he should come around, but if not then you’ll just have to accept that. It sucks, but it’s a big risk to have considered before taking things past platonic. It’s like when a person has feelings for their best friend and wants to confess their feelings — by doing so there’s a big risk that it could mess up the dynamic the two have as friends, if remaining friends at all. This result is unfortunately very similar.

He must have been lonely, sexually frustrated, when you both got in the same situation, he took the opportunity to see "his friend's mind", how far can you go, so he got caught up in the sexual desire, chemistry, arousal that you'r mind had to offer. But that passed and he only thought it for the moment, you have to remeber this... No man will ever be YOUR FRIEND!, soon as he finds a "crack" in your life/relationship, He will be there to "comfort you", That's how we men are.

Friendships aren't the kind of thing you can force. Just put in the effort that you're willing to put in and let him do what he will.

Men are simple creatures to understand. We love sex, food and sports. He was more interested in pursuing a sexual relationship but pretended he didn't or didn't verbalize it properly. Since that option is off the table, he feels there is no need to just be "friends" with you. He will not admit this to you but it's true. Sorry :(
