Why is my crush kinda/was obsessed with my love life?

I’m asking because about 5 months ago I liked this other guy and than I was talking about this other girl to my crush (current crush as of right now, I kinda like him at that time not that much) and I told him my crush at the time username was so weird then he told me “what is it I wanna follow him to see if he’ll accept my request” (his account was private) I was weirded out and told him not too? My other friends told me it’s weird because he doesn’t know the other guy like that. Anyways passing on time my ex (didn’t work out well at ALL) I posted my ex on my story (he was my boyfriend at the time) than when I posted him my crush followed him? is he just trying to look out for me or what

no idea. Two reasons he either is a good friend or he likes you and is jealous and wants to see what type of guys you are going for.
