What does it mean for a guy ( that I went to middle school with) sent me a letter through mail?

I found it weird, This guy was an acquaintance and we barely knew each other after middle school. He found my home address and sent me a formal letter. Formal, as in, something you would write at work to your CEO. I'm 23 rn. I have social media that he could have contacted me through. But no mutual friends.

Just wondering what others would think in this situation and if this is a normal thing.

Don't you think that it takes little effort to contact someone through the internet? How personal is that in reality? Would you rather have a personal phone call or just an impersonal text from, say your mom? However, in the end it depends on what was said in the letter.

I like him. He’s old school. Letter writing is becoming something weird, which makes no sense. Maybe he just doesn’t use social media. 🤷‍♂️

He's kicking it old school by writing a letter. I would say he was trying to be creative and stand out from other guys.
