So this guy at work said about my guy friend “ hows ur boyfriend (his name)” I was just hangin around cuz we had nothing to do and he's defo a friend and i was like “ are u mad he's my mate” and then he goes later on “ hows you bf” 🙄 uhh i dont mf have a boyfriend 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

If you're noticing a change in his behaviour after seeing you get closer to someone else, it may be a case of envy. Maybe your friend wants to get closer to you as well, and seeing you share that with someone new is making him envious. Bringing attention to it and teasing you about it could be a defense mechanism to help him cope with it, or possibly give the illusion that he is closer to you than you both know.

Regardless of what it may be, if you want want it to be any deal then the best thing you could do is not entertain his teasing. Let it dry out and swap topics whenever it comes up.

Not everyone is confident enough to put their selves out there like that, and try to hang out with you outside of a work environment. He might be worried that if he tries anything, it'll ruin your friendship and work will be awkward.

But yeah you can diffuse the whole thing by not letting his teasing work on you. Just keep saying he's just your friend and change the topic whenever he does it. If you're laughing and playing along then he'll think you're into it.
