Why did my guy friend say this?

He said "you're my friend 'right now.'" And we were just texting while we're drinking, talking about drinks.. I told him I've never had tequila by itself, only as margarita and he said he never mixes it, and I told him "I know they say I'm not supposed to drink with my psych meds but idgaf." He said "Yeah it's strong. Hey... that make the both of us that dgaf lol... seem like u & me could get along so well... lol... jk... I don't want to make u feel uncomfortable with me" I said "No don't worry you're fine. That's fucking hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 chistoso and I think that could be part of it. I need to try it." He said "Lol... okay u say so... Honestly u seem like a cool person 😎." I said "thank you. You do too. I already know you are actually." He said "thanks. What do you mean?" I said "you're super cool. The coolest" and he said "one thing is that I always protect all my friends. Anyway, you are cool af too"
