I'm getting kind of mixed signals from a friend of mine. We recently reconnected after being apart (I stepped away from the friendship reluctantly due to a controlling/jealous partner I had at the time and really regret that).
Ever since, my friend has been very close to me. He wants me to come hang out all the time in our little group. He was very happy to reconnect with me and seemed to miss me (he didn't directly say that but he kept saying how it had been so long and I finally explained why I had disappeared).
He hugs me at least twice during every meet up. He holds me a good while and pulls me in close to him. He uses my name. He smiles and greets me the second I walk into the room/arrive at the meet up place. He makes eye contact when we talk and holds it. He makes eye contact during the meet up. He has started calling me "my dear" as of this week (hasn't done that before). He will call me "my dear", "____ my dear" or "my dear ____". So it isn't because he forgets my name or anything since he sometimes uses my name with it. He is always excited to hear I'll be at the next group meeting. Saturday night when he was hugging me close he softly said he was looking forward to seeing me the next night. He has started wanting to talk as we embrace (possibly trying to "whisper in my ear"?). He uses "that" voice with me - the soft, romantic-y voice guys get (he did that Friday night and Saturday especially). Friday's hug was REALLY intense. He had actually followed me out to my car. I had tried to leave early to see what he'd do and he left the group and followed me to my car just to say bye and hug me. I didn't know he was following me. When he caught me, he wrapped me up very tightly and held me really close. When we broke apart, he pulled me right back in for another embrace and whispered "tomorrow?" indicating I'd be there for the meet up and I said yes. He then told me to be safe going home as he usually does and I told him the same.
