What do I respond or should I not respond at all? He can't speak to me now that he's in a relationship?

We met twice via a dating app. Haven't seen each other for a year now but spoke regularly as friends and have each others numbers as we exchanged numbers outside of the app. So I met him in early 2021.

He didn't respond for a few weeks and yesterday i had asked if he was ok and he said he was great etc and that he doesn't feel it right to speak to me as he's now in a new relationship and he met me on a dating app and said he hopes I understand

So I read it but haven't responded and tbh I dont think I will. Is there anything I should say?

And this is why having guy friends suck. I dont think it matters where you met if you guys became friends. And its crappy that it took you reaching out to him for him to tell you that. I've talked to guys where we never had anything romantic going on but they stiill cut me off when they get a girl. They just vanish.

@Asker If you don’t wanna try to have a friendship with him anymore then Id ignore AND block him. He’ll likely try hitting you up again if things go south with his girlfriend. But you you really truly feel happy for him, then go ahead and congratulate.
