I like this guy, neither of us has been before in a relationship, I'm very shy and his friends have said that when he likes a girl he is shy and doesn't talk to her, we don't talk to each other but I feel he likes me because he stares at me when I'm not looking and I know this cuz I caught him by accident and he quickly looked away, and I can see him with the corner of my eye, also some friends have told me he does look at me, and he does some other subtle things that make me believe he likes me but we're very weird around each other, the problem is last time I saw him he said all of a sudden and in front a bunch of people that he liked this girl (the girl wasn't there but I know her) and he was bragging about talking to her and how many texts she was sending him, they've only had known each other for a week, that's not his style at all, he doesn't even share that information like that it was really weird.

We don't have each other on social media but my friends have him and they've told me he has commented on her pictures things like "pretty" and I don't know if he really likes her or what, they have told me they think he's immature and they think he said that to see my reaction. I don't know if he likes her but he's not the type to be confident around a girl he truly likes, I know it cuz I've heard the stories about his past crushes and months ago he posted something saying he didn't want to talk to someone cuz he didn't think he was that good looking and a friend of his was encouraging him, he's still weird with me and the next day he was bragging about the girl I felt him staring at me but I'm very confused.

Do you think a shy guy that his whole life has been scared to talk to girls he likes can all of a sudden change or maybe he doesn't like her, they're just friends, he was just bragging and testing the waters?

Why go through the trouble? Why not find a guy that you both can have an open conversation. You will go through hell if you force him. He's not that shy, so if he hasn't told you he likes you but talks to another girl, there's your answer.

Why don't you send him a friend request on Facebook and take it from there? It might be a better way for the two of you to talk if you both are shy

Thank you for your reply :D I don't have Facebook :/ he does have an account and there is where he and this girl comment and react to each other, but I did follow him on Instagram and he followed me back but a week after that he started saying he liked this girl and was bragging about the amount of texts she was sending him so I deactivated my instagram account lol (I don't use social media and I kind of made that account for interacting with him lol) I don't know what to do now, his behavior confuses me, my friends thinks he likes me but I don't know what to think.

Are you comfortable enough to get in his space? 3 feet where eye contact has to be maintained for 30 seconds. Look down and run away is fine. If he does not make this happen after that then he is not probably the one for you...

I'm gonna try, but it has to be 30 seconds? Cuz I think that would be a dead give away that I like him and if he doesn't do anything after that it's going to make things more awkward, I think... can it be maybe 10 seconds?

I did not realize he said he has other interests. You may look like “the fool”. This is effective if your are dealing with a tableau rosa. You are not on level ground. Keep this in the back of your mind. He will think you are chasing him…. I think. I’m not there.

Thank you :D Yeah the thing is when that happens he is usually with his group of friends and I'm with mine and then he comes to where I am talks to my friends (they've known each other for years, I'm new here) lingers, and then leaves, I don't know if he doesn't try more because I don't return the stares so isn't sure, I don't know :/

Have them involve you in the convo. But you should also smile at him, as wide as you can (that always sends a message).

I don't think you're at the point where you can approach him on your own and hold a convo.
