Why is my guy friend ignoring me?

I’m really pissed my guy friend is acting distant. He told me his birthday is coming up next week and joked about if I will do something for him. I joked back saying no, but since we are good friends, i’m of course going to get him a small gift and a small cupcake. So I asked him if he will be busy on that day. He gave a very vague answer saying “maybe” and was giving attitude. I asked him again after a few days to reassure so I can make time but he completely ignored me. I find this behavior very weird. It’s as if he is uncomfortable with me celebrating his birthday and the only reason I can think of is he may think I like him? But he knows I like other guys because I always tell him who I am crushing on. Should I just not care about his birthday?

If he isn’t giving you any answers as to why he is mad or acting weird, then it’s not your issue, it’s his. Feel free to say happy birthday to him, but forget about his ungrateful ass when it comes to celebrating

Well I agree with your close friend! His lack of communication may have nothing to do with the question you asked, he may just not be a real friend! I just had to let go of a guy friend like this because he made me feel crazy for trying to communicate with him! No one deserves to feel gaslighted or feel like they did something wrong for no reason!

I joked about how old he is turning (he is older than me) so he knows I was trying to set a time for me to celebrate his bday but after his work ends. I think he should have gotten the hint i “care” and was trying to do something nice for him. At this point he’s ignoring me and i think imma just text him happy bday and not plan anything for him
