Why do men still act semi interested even though they are seeing someone else?

I was seeing this guy for a little bit, he started acting weird but then I started seeing his car parked at this one house every day. I asked him about it and he made an excuse.

i told him after that that I’m not interested in continuing and he basically said not because things get weird you should just run away, but he understands.

I responded to him with a lengthy message about everything and he responded well to that and said he’d communicate more. He was still calling me babe and responding to every message I sent him, answering my calls and just chatting.

But I wasn’t seeing him, he asked to see me twice and I couldn’t so I asked to see him on two separate occasions after that but he never came.

Why is he trying to keep me there if he’s clearly occupied by someone else? Why not just let me go when I said I was going to? Or why not just ignore me?
